Its great to be able to purchase big photos but could you offer something for website use.
ie a copy of all photos for the teams from one club which attended somewhere you took photos to use on their website only (at a good price) with maybe your logo on their so people can't copy them? (Even if they where no different than on your site) This may even boost your sales.
Make it easier to find / identify photos. I have been to several swimming galas and spent hours trawling through hundreds of photos trying to find one of my daughter. It would be easier if the website showed which event and even which heat the photos were of. Thanks
Loyalty points/discounts. Keep a database of your customers' purchases and maybe offer a discount or a free key ring/fridge magnet etc to your loyal/regular customers
Sell digital photos online - the more you buy the cheaper the individual price. It's very expensive to buy just 3 images in a frame when I would prefer digital copies of all the shots taken of our children at a gymnastics competition. The print outs that I buy usually get stored away in a cupboard.
Rather than forcing users to buy several separate photos, allow users to design thier own montage of thier selection of photos. This would invlove a simple component (not difficult using 'Flash') as a tool to perform the cropping and positioning. The monatage tool could also allow text captions/notes to be positioned to even generate a storyboard effect.
Stop requiring Microsoft Silverlight. It is not necessary, and is not available or possible to install on all computers. It also doesn't work on many smartphones nor the iPad.
Having a more accessible site would be great.
When making up a product it would be much better to see what the final crop will look like. It should allow the user to zoom in to remove distractions from the edge of photos.
I would like to be able to crop part of a landscape photo to make a portrait photo please.
Send digital images to customers the next day using a secure FTP link: rather than waiting for the photographer to download on to a CD, take to the Post Office, etc.
Lovely photos - I'd love to order more, but not at those prices. Can you reduce the price of the smallest prints by not putting them into a frame/mount? If we intend to display them we'll usually put them into a smarter frame, otherwise they'll probably go into an album or other collection where frames are superfluous. We are fortunate and do have a few good DE photos of our boys playing Rugby but there are lots of parents who are not so fortunate. There seems to be a tendancy to take a lot of pictures of the more able, obvious, photogenic kids some of whom seem to appear in full frontal shots over and over again and far fewer of the lesser stars - instead taking lots of pictures of just a pack of kids. How about creating a photo journal of GB squad members looking to compete in the olympics. Set it up online via twitter/facebook etc. and allow people to subscribe to it. Broadcast it and generate some media interest. Ask the athletes to provide some thoughts as the next two years pan out. It will give the athletes some good profile (motivational if people are rooting for them), raise the profile of some of the lesser ...more »

There are far too many throw away shots on display that no one wants, just an arm, a hat and loads of out of focus water. I was lucky enough to have an excellent photographer at one of our events a few years ago, that made great efforts to get the 'good shot'. I bought two action photos that day that were truly stunning.
Despite being very keen to buy at many events over the years, have never seen anything to approach these, so have never bought any more.
A really good shot would tempt anyone to buy.

You could provide digital photos. I don't really want to wait for a CD. I'm not bothered about having hard copies as I can do these for myself if necessary. The cost for hard copies/CD is extremely high and therefore I keep my orders to an absolute minimum. take underwater photos at swimming sessions, or during swimming training sessions. i would love a photo of my son (he is 18) swimming underwater, i have seen babies but why not older kids as parents we are still proud of them whatever age and the underwater ones do look amazing. thanks for letting me submit this i hope you can maybe do it. my son swims for fareham nomads.
TAKE A TEAM PHOTO/USE MONTAGE OF CLUB PHOTOS AND CREATE A BOARDED CALENDAR WITH SIMPLE TEAR OFF MONTHS FOR USE BY CLUBS TO FUNDRAISE WHEN PURCHASED AS BULK ITEMS - SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT THE CLUB AND ADVERTSIING YOUR BUSINESS AT THE SAME TIME. OR USING THE SAME IMAGE ON BLANK GREETING/THANK YOU CARDS.
KEYRINGS - offer 2 pictures rather than 1 shot back to back. I have 2 different football shots of my son, but was refused this at a swimming competition. Guess what, he only has a football keyring - lost sales from a simple product.
There was only one photograph taken of my son at NDP in Birmingham on 14th May out of hundreds taken. I was really disappointed. At these events my suggestion would be to have a photographer making sure that he/she captures at least one image of everyone on pieces of equipment like the high bar and rings, that we'd never be able to capture ourselves. I think it would be a great idea to be able to have printed on the mounts to the photograph the event name and date. It would be a fantastic keepsake for your child & would enable you to see straight away where and when it was taken.
If you're shooting an outdoor event, then you could tag photos with GPS location data and the time taken as that would help finding my photo. if I'm tracking my progress with my own GPS then the correlation is going to be easy - compare both datasets until you find a point where competitor and photographer are only a few metres apart. If you're shooting an indoor event, having an accurate date/timestamp is going to ...more »

If you're shooting an indoor event, having an accurate date/timestamp is going to solve the trawling the albums problem. I'll know when I raced - make that the primary index.
It may need you to take special care when setting the clock in your cameras. I'd keep all cameras set to GMT all year and wherever you're located - it's then going to be in the EXIF data with a common timebase. You can always add an offset for local time or foreign location.

My daughter does a lot of dance competitions and a lot of the companies that photograph her use green screens to put nice backgrounds on the photos why don't you do that
The ability to search a particualr event by the club you represent would save a lot of time looking for relevant images of your team or players.
